About:
In some ways, Zombie was another in the wave of movies about Western ideas being shocked, intrigued and repulsed by native practices. But it also was unique in setting the standard in gore – top Fulci’s Zombie, if you must, might well be something casually thrown around among filmmakers.
Dawn of the Dead was released in Italy as Zombi and though work on Fulci’s film had already begun by then, the producers chose to market it as a sequel. Hence Zombi 2.
The story is quite straightforward. On a Caribbean island, the dead are coming back to life. Locals think it’s voodoo. But a doctor living there, for the glory of science, is hellbent on uncovering a more palatable explanation. Even if it means his wife hates the place and is about to lose her shit. Eventually she loses one of her eyes, in one of the most iconic moments in cinema. The film is also renowned for an underwater shark sequence (that wasn’t shot by Fulci). Some also love the music.
It’s probably Fulci’s most renowned work internationally and must also be credited for paying close literal attention to, the dead are rising.
One of the most over rated movies ever lol lots of standing around screaming waiting to be bit. And why did that woman not break the splinter off? how did the zombie get to the door so quickly? why did it sound like the Cyclops from a Sinbad movie?
this and night of the living dead are the best zombies movies ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way better than George Romeros crappy zombies 😂
First horror gore zombie movie Ive ever watch! I went with my family to the theatre back in the 80s, I was 4 years old!!! For some reason there was no kind of regulations. I still have the bad sensation when I remember it with a little boy´s mind, as an adult I still love this film, but it´s just not the same. Fulci rules!!!!!
It’s 1980.
It’s Fulci.. it’s Zombies.
What a time to be alive.. or dead.. or walking dead hahhahah
Waaaay ahead of its time for effects and ting it’s still a corker today .
Ok dubbing is a little off but what the hell it’s a storming romp a thon.
Fulci is the man. He made lots of great movies. Need more of them here.
One of my favourites
This masterpiece bravely goes where no other movie has dared to tread and attempts to answer the age old question:- who would win in a fight between a zombi and a shark?
among us
A truly great Fulci film.
I don’t know if I personally would label it an “Effed up” movie but I do remember that the trailer with the scene on the cover just about scared the living dooey eyed dogshit outta me when I was 12!
Finally Fulcis’ walking flowerpots make an appearance! My personal favourite zombie movie.
Cheers EUM.
