In the summer of 1986, Timo and Sommer share the same German housing complex and an interest in the underage. It begins with Sommer offering his extensive collection of child porn and ends with the rape and murder of a girl cycling back home. Timo, shaken by the extreme experience, leaves town, changes name and 23 years later is a married, family man. Until the bicycle of a missing young girl is found at the exact same spot as the original murder. It’s time for Timo to catch up with his old friend.
The Silence is a beautiful movie on the disruptive effect of a crime on everyone involved and a gripping deliberation on guilt – some have it, others don’t.
Its so confusing the gut who killed the girl looks more like the dad of that girl thats killed but it was the guy with the beard
Bruh, did I miss something??? Who killed the 2nd girl??
Great movie. Totally fucked up.
poor little hamster
Kind of a subtle masterpiece. Beautiful cinematography and character building. 5/5
Excellent..
Typically German in every aspect… Slow precise dramatic… A great movie which excells in what it doesn’t show… We don’t need the shock and horror as the emotional aspect is by far gruesome enough.
Thank you for this gem, whoever requested it.
Putrid, cowardly piece of shit Timo just watched… Fucking merits blame and responsibility as much as the cuntface perp Sommer imo.
This year I have watched just over 400 films. Some have been provided to me by the lovely people on this site (big, big thanks) and although 2022 has been filled with a lot of dross. Remake of ..firestarter.. ? I have enjoyed some. Here are five:
Emily the criminal,
Barbarian,
Pearl,
The Bad Guys (for its soundtrack),
Metal Lords
I was unaware until now that Mike Hodges has died, 17th Dec. In his memory I will be watching ..Get Carter, 1971.. and ..Flash Gordon, 1980.. . I can then hark back to mature landladies needing a bit of young comfort and the easy liver & onions that I missed.
Great movie. It builds on a simple murder a smooth depiction of guilt, insensitivity and loneliness. The relationship between the two main guys is impressive, it contrasts two opposite behaviours on the same issue and how desperation reaches even that who is most insensitive or immoral. Overtime, the other actors’ drama renders secondary and unremarkable though.
Its the 21st and I am still undecided what film/s to watch on Christmas day. I am hoping the fucked-up-admin will give us something festive and that does not mean cousin-fucking-dwarves. Although….if something of that nature is in your black-box I would not be too upset. So far its a tussle between Bing Crosby and Ken Russell.
This movie held my interest all the way through. Probably not my cup of tea, as I can’t say I found it enjoyable to watch, where others may. It was a solid movie though.
There was a couple things I didn’t like about this movie.
I wasn’t a fan of how the second girl being depicted as a spoiled little brat, arguing with her parents in her only segment (other than a short call)… then the murder occurs, but it’s not shown. To me, all of that made the murder less impactful in sadness for her death & empathy for her parents. I felt more for the first girl & mom.
The detectives inner drama was overly done throughout. However, two incidents even more so. I don’t buy that the retired detective would go on tv & make a claim someone is dead a few days after missing. He didn’t even investigate her murder, but that would never happen regardless. Then the two detectives agressively arguing about a second potential subject at the end, felt forced & kinda cringey.
I notice there is a remake of ..One Cut of the Dead, 2017.. called ..Final Cut, 2022.. as it appears to be more or less the same story without the good location or the long-shots I wonder what is the point.
boring, tedious, sluggish, german movies simply suck, they are good at everything else though.
Another depressing film about a creep that likes to destroy people to get his jollies and the ramifications it has on his victims for years to come. Pretty much about 90% of the films on here have that same general theme. The depression, misery and sadness these people cause is very relatable because everyone knows someone that gets a thrill out of being a fucking asshole to someone else because they can.
It’s a very good movie. Sad. The mother’s reaction when the police are about to tell her they found her daughter is heartbreaking.
The detective looked like a shit bag skid row bum. When he showed up at Timo’s door and said he was a cop, the wife let him in without showing credentials? He made Columbo look neat.
4 and a half stars.
Is there a problem with the sound? Im the first to not be able to hear this film
