Watch Part 2 HERE

AKA:
Directed by: Andrey Iskanov
Starring:
Country: Russia
Language: Russian, English (English subtitles)
Runtime: 02:13:47
Genres: Based on a True Story, Bizarre-Surreal, Gore-Gruesome-Splatter, Insects, Military, Fascism, Violence against Men, Sexual-Violence against Women, strong>Torture, Medical

Plot – Spoilers:
A 4+ hour retelling of Unit 731 as covered in the Men Behind the Sun series. This is the Russian version of what happened at the secret Japanese research facility where experiments of every conceivable nature were allegedly carried out on humans.

Here the victims are Russians, and the narration is part documentary featuring an old Russian doctor Anatoly Protasov who hovered around Unit 731 as a medical student studying at a nearby university. Protasov lends an odd contradiction to the horrific nature of events at Unit 731 as his eyes often gleam while reminiscing.

The rest of Part 1 of the film has surreal fillers between the recreated cruelty that includes:
A fetus pulled out of a pregnant woman.
Teeth pulling.
A terrified man forced to fuck an equally terrified woman as part of an STD experiment.
A man’s face melted away with phosphorus.
Live cockroach inserted into a pussy.
And so on…

The Men Behind the Sun is a far superior series. This looked like a CBS special. It was moody and self important. Skip it.

my god this was shit or rather these, some of it looked like tales from gimli hospital a lot of it looked like an early david lynch the russian girls all had shaved coochies wore make up and eaye liner. it took me a while to realise that the same actors were getting killed time after time representing all the victims i guess i mean thats fukin deep ( sob) the only really interesting thing was the russian/chinese dr who thought unit 731 was not that bad….yikes watch men behind the sun same shit differant class

I’m so glad this film dared to highlight Unit 731’s pornographic violence against hot blondes rather than the millions of Han Chinese who were the actual victims. Let us never forget the atrocity that was the perfectly shaved roach cooch, which I’m sure happened exactly like we just saw.

not sure what i expected. takes a hell world that happened to majority Chinese people and uses entirely white actors for the victims(if you don’t understand why this is important, watch a documentary about a specific event and imagine how it would look with actors that are from a completely different ethnic group. white people playing african tribes is an easy one), pornifies it, and seems to simp for Mengele and Ishii. all i can say is it got most of the information right, what i was able to get through. a bit more than half way.

I actually liked the opening credits with the grinding industrial music. As for the movie, well, its a 4.5 hour torture fest, some real some not, the real footage was horrifying but the acted parts were just laughable. The bit where they were pulling out teeth with pliers you would think would be pretty painful, but not a sound out of the victim, she even seemed to be smiling. Seriously? And thats just for starters, the effects were not convincing enough imo. I have seen worse, but I have seen a lot better. Still, each to their own.

This movie was incredibly hard to watch, and not in an effed up movie kind of way. It was too long and had too many unnecessary scenes that just made the movie feel like it was trying way too hard to be edgy. there were some good disturbing parts, but it was overshadowed by the sheer amount of grainy, pointless, blank shots that made up most of this two hour long film. also the beginning credits reminded me of an american horror story intro that just went on for too long. I’m not even sure if I can force myself to watch part two.

The first thirteen minutes are film credits, riveting stuff. I made it to approximately 40 minutes into the movie itself before giving up. Excruciatingly boring, amateurish, lots of grainy footage, irritating sound effects and a dreary old Russian man who waffles on about stuff that is uninteresting. How anyone could watch four hours of this garbage (ie, both movies) without going comatose, is beyond me.

Parts of this movie remind me of a Nine Inch Nails video, lol. On to part 2…
