Plot – Spoilers:
In remote rural Peru, sisters Madeinusa and Chale live with their father who is also mayor of the sparsely inhabited village, where frugal living is an accepted way of life.
Here, strangers are unwelcome, but religion is deeply and firmly entrenched. Here, running water from a tap is precious, but running away is frowned upon. The sisters’ mother did just that when she left for Lima, and the two as they’ve grown up, are turning into her replacement as far as father’s concerned – he’s been looking forward to deflowering Madeinusa, but the sinful nature of it has kept him at bay. But now the time’s come – it’s Easter season and the folk there believe that in the days between Good Friday and Easter, God is dead, and blind to sin.
Meanwhile, the townsfolk are gearing up for the festivities that include choosing the girl to play the role of Virgin Mary, for which the two sisters are in direct competition with each other. Old rivalries will rise, while into this mix arrives a non-indigenous stranger from Lima, who’s immediately viewed with suspicion by all except Madeinusa, who sees in him an opportunity to take the journey out of town, just like her mother, years ago.
Boring shit and not even one sex scene. There is only suggestive that something happened but the movie doesn’t show anything so BORING. If you are going to make a film about incest and sexual relationships at least add some sex scenes you worthless producer
This movie is wild. I read the summary yet still didn’t expect everyone to know he wanted to bang his daughters. Better still it was totally acceptable. And that Part with the shirt was cute. “It says MADEINUSA” as she sees the tag on his shirt says made in U.S.A. 🤣🤣🤣

If you ever wanted to visit Peru here is your chance to do so vicariously. It is interesting to see places and observe cultures that I will never be able to in real life. EUM provides that opportunity for which I am grateful.
Now about the movie. Human clocks, blaring celebratory trumpet music, acapella singing by old women and blind guys that will make your ears bleed, religion intertwined with incest, sibling feuds, tie cutting parties and a stranger from Lima. What does it all mean? You’ll have to get to the end to find out and it’s a slow journey. I fell asleep about a half an hour in to it and resumed watching after I woke up. It was worth it for me to watch the rest of it for the one part that made me burst out laughing and still makes me laugh when I think about it. It’s interesting. 3 stars.
