Plot – Spoilers:
Geum-ja has just been released from prison after 13 years for having kidnapped and killed a young boy. While in prison, Geum-ja was popular among the inmates and guards for her kindness and explicit remorse as a born-again Christian. Now that she’s out, she joins a bakery but appears – to those who’ve known her – to have turned cold and even a little intimidating. She also seems to have brutal plans in place for an unknown man.
Appropriately also known as Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, this one oozes style and great music while wallowing in the idea that for some, there is no such thing as remorse. Only eternal damnation.
Park Chan-wook is my favorite Asian director, with Takashi Miike running a close 2nd. The Vengeance Trilogy is an incredibly irresistible body of art. Thank you for all of them, EUM!
Really enjoyed this. Gonna need to watch Sympathy for Mr vengeance next. I own Oldboy
A true masterpiece really enjoyed every second, thank you effed up moderators 👍
Cinema outside of Hollywood always feels refreshing to me. I find more unique ideas out of those realms whether it be from France, Canada, Japan, South Korea.
awesome film. That final quarter was proper intense
Such a lovely move on a goulish subject. What ever, I liked it
Your movies surely seem to buffer a lot and when I say a lot I mean every few minutes or so.
Either way, though I’m very appreciative of this site and enjoyed this movie among others! Keep up the good work! 😀
I found Asian cinema ( in particular Japanese ) is much better quality than American.
The actress, Lee yeong ae admit she only accepted the role because she wants a “different identity” after being typecast because of her tv hit series Dae Jang geum. Where she plays as very demure and wholesome character oppose to her role in Lady vengeance, sadly for her it doesn’t help her career and public image as Yeong ae still known as Jang geum until to this day.
Really liked this highly entertaining but did she have to shoot the dog?
