Plot – Spoilers:
An ex-army doctor, Yukio, has resumed practice in Tokyo and lives with his parents and new bride, Rin. The parents are pompously stately and dictate the rules in the house through their passive yet insistent tone. They also disapprove of Rin who suffers from amnesia ever since she was in a fire. Yukio’s struggles in balancing his affection for Rin while maintaining respectability in front of his parents isn’t his only problem. Dealing with death and the disabled everyday has ignited a crisis of compassion and ethics within him. But things are about to get weirder as a man who resembles Yukio, but with scars on his legs, has begun stalking the house.

Based on an Edogawa Ranpo story, this is recommended mostly for Ranpo and Tsukamoto fans.

Using color was a wise move for Shinya Tsukamoto. The blue hues were effective. It’s been a long time since I watched Tetsue when it came out, but I remember it lacking in color spectrum. Made me want to revisit the series, or maybe one of ST’s other films I haven’t seen yet. Rin is strikingly beautiful!
