Plot – Spoilers:
A struggling Danish actress, Anna, has been audition-hopping for a while. Her rejection-rate has dramatically improved of late as she’s the mother of a 4-month-old babygirl who just won’t stop crying. The cries follow Anna at home when she’s practicing her lines and to actual auditions. The only times the baby is quiet appears to be when Anna is doing nothing in particular or playing the mother role. The more this happens, the more Anna’s on edge expecting to hear wails the moment she turns her attention away. And the longer Anna’s nocareer extends, so does her growing resentment.
It’s fucked up enough to have to hear a baby crying for a large chunk of the movie. But it’s even more fucked up to wonder how they even managed to film some of the scenes with the actors (notwithstanding the fact that multiple baby actors were used). There are moments where the baby looks genuinely vulnerable in Anna’s arms with its round big head cradled, yet so exposed, and there is an overhanging dread that all it takes is one move, one moment of madness. And the most effed up thing about this would be that the lead-up would have ensured that you wouldn’t be left feeling too shocked.
A Danish triumph, this, through the performances and the constant switch between reality and acting.
I was not bored. Very well acted. She had other options but then it wouldn’t have been a fucked up movie. Worth watching.
SPOILER ALERT ;
i don’t mean to sound like i’m putting blame on the mom here , clearly it is very hard to care for a baby especially one that young , and i know she was made in a act of Rape and i know the girl said her parents kicked her out ( which is fucked up if you asked me , that was when she needed her parents the most ) but the moment she found out she was pregneat she should of called her parents and gone back home , or at least stay in that area she was from to get support for her and her child and put this whole wanting to be an actress on the Back burner and got a legit job , like they say ” Don’t Quit You’re Day Job ” . but noooo she was so stubborn and thought she could be an actress so easy especially now with having to care for a child full time .
i was just so pissed off at this girl the whole movie , like she had options and chose HER way , well it clearly wasn’t the best way as we all saw , and serves her right when she found out her next door neighbor not only was able to give her a Pram and clothing but also Child Care for her baby . after she already killed her child .
Such a depressing movie i’ll never watch agian .
Great movie… But better acting. She was awesome. Wonder how many auditioned for her part. Felt bad for the little baby though.
Sounds like a real nightmare. Not for me. I’ve seen films where babies are seen sobbing their hearts out in real distress, just for the sake of a Fu King movie scene. Any parents who puts a baby through that is not fit to be a parent and should be prosecuted for neglect and child torture, after being tortured themselves!
Awesome movie. Just awesome. Welcome to the Nordics, nothing quite like how the Fennoscandics depict their inherent misery. Too bad the subs lost a bit of the fine touch at times, e.g. I’m pretty sure the old prostitute said he always lies, not never (although I’m not Danish so I may be mistaken). Nothing major but some fine print may have fallen through the cracks. Regardless, thanks a whole bunch for making this masterpiece accessible!!
Also what the hell is going on in the comment section 😂 almost as captivating as the movie itself!
Holy fuck I did not expect to get so emotional from this. This film is incredible, it is so raw and depressing. The film gives you a perspective of a really fucked up situation that resulted in a rape pregnancy and how the mom had to live through it. I sobbed during the scene where she went on about all of the things she misses about Daisy as the creepy dude gives her whatever disease he had. This is the kind of movie I came here for, fucked up and incredibly emotional.
Sophia Takal has some range.
I agree with OMH regarding Noomi’s performance. I found it stellar, void of pretension, and incredibly empathic. In addition, another film worthy of observance in which Noomi stars, is Svinalängorna/ Beyond 2010. She has a unique presence, I find her rather charismatic and alluring aesthetically. Honestly, she portrayed a single mother with an infant, economic depravity, and a lack of maternal support in a particularly utilitarian faculty.
the most depressing movie ever. anyone who has looked after children, adults, or animals can relate to her experience. too sad and extreme how quickly her life was deteriorating that not sure if it was a good or bad movie though certainly not boring.
Kids ruin your life and career if you’re a woman who could have known that ? Pass.
Stellar performance by Noomi Repace. Much stranger film than I anticipated it to be. 5 stars for sure.
Cole – you look like a retard. Was that gravatar picture taken on a good day?

Well done movie, great acting, but so sad…. the few short porn parts were interesting.

Hello!
Why is this ugly bitch in every Scandinavian movie?
Protagonist fails to becone an actress so instead she becomes a whore, she gets fucked everyday by random men and lives happily ever after. THE END
