Plot – Spoilers:
A middle-aged man, a dwarf and a young woman walk through uninhabited country. As they meander along through aesthetically captured sunlit scapes and lilting melodies, a common Marian Dora theme of rejecting society and humanity emerges and it almost feels beautiful. Which is strange, because the trio could just be out, enjoying the sunny weather. The woman after all, appears to be carrying a picnic basket.

The man is the only one who talks and it is often a ramble of what seems like life advice to the woman who’s an intern of some sort. She frolics about, seemingly without much purpose other than to cater to the eyes of the man who awkwardly tries to mimic her. The dwarf meanwhile is more preoccupied with nibbling on all kinds of shit coming out of his belly button and ears. But there is a foreboding of the violence to come, with insects being crushed and grotesque images of dead animals scattering the landscape.

The dwarf and the woman are initially childlike, exploring each other. The choice of a dwarf possibly mimics and represents a child here. He wears diapers and tends to shit when excited. He tastes his own shit and the shit of others when available. Yeah. It’s going a bit offroad. The dwarf starts getting aggressive with the woman and is goaded by the man who kind of plays the role of a God watching over everything, initially controlling the dwarf but later letting him go and instructing the woman to accept her fate. Almost like he wants to see how far a person will go if they feel unfettered by any rule, law or sense of morality. In this sense, the religious overtones are hard to miss here with an organ during the higher moments of sacrifice and a paraphrasing of Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.

Random:
The man philosophizes on the internals of people being more evolved and invisible most of the time. Well, the dwarf fulfils his desire to see the woman’s internals without the opacity of appearance.
