Plot – Spoilers:
The Theatrical Cut of Exorcist III left writer and director William Peter Blatty deeply dissatisfied. As explained during the intro here, a few years back, this Director’s Cut was released, pieced together from various sources. But the piecemeal nature leaves large sections of the film, of a poor VHS quality with odd aspect ratios.
This cut however is believed to reflect Blatty’s original vision for the film. Personally, I prefer this, without the physical presence of Father Karras, so Brad Dourif could hog all of that cell to himself.
Random Trivia:
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest gave Exorcist II, Nurse Ratched, and this one, Bibbit.
This film seems cobbled together, and badly at that. Please make me believe just a little? Brad Dourif’s monologues were creepy but not “exorcist’ creepy.
Is Brad Dourif even in the Theatrical Cut? I ask because most of his on-screen time in this DC are in the restored VHS footage.
It all comes down to media coverage, and notoriety? I knew the devil was a ghaye little pu$$y! LMFAO!
“You’re not worthy of the front page, Gemini.”

the nurse getting her head chopped off scene is some scary shit even though its not shown
Nah, I love Scott here. Dyer isn’t anything like the original either. Although I agree with some that the theatrical release ending is a bit overdone, I still liked it better than this version. Dourif still gets his crazy rants and is still creepy as hell. This feels anticlimactic. Both versions are great, and it’s a great book. Thanks for posting this version!
George C Scott is ridiculous . . . It’s like he didn’t even watch the original movie. No characterization at all in his performance . . . Nothing of Kinderman is here.
I love this film
super!ca intotdeauna
There’s a scene they’re still missing on this directors cut, its the original opening scene where kinderman is at the morgue where father karras body is lying dead after the fall down the steps, after he leaves the room the heart monitor starts showing signs of life in karras, if you wanna see it its on youtube
Hmm
I preferred the original theater cut.
It seems more intense.. this is good don’t get me wrong.. but the original use of Father Karras for us old ones was a nice piece of theatre.
Still a worthy watch for any classic horror film affeciando
This version was nothing special. The way it’s sounds the directors cut you would think there’s so much more but nah. They don’t even show the ending fight in the cell like the original does. Regardless it’s still a great movie.
Let me be the first, thanking you. Once more you were able to dig up a hidden gem. Just awesome.
THIS is rhe true form of this film, nothing less. Totally love it ????
