Inspired by the true case of Pamela Smart.
Suzanne has craved one thing ever since she was little – to be on TV. Everything she does, including her relationships, are merely a means to this end. Men are mostly smitten by her and women intimidated, and so, no one ever really gives her a reality check. Meanwhile her ambition snowballs to the point where it’s ready to consume her husband when he threatens to stand in its path.
Despite the melodramatic tone in what is essentially a satirical piece, Gus Van Sant elicits knockout performances from his Hollywood stars (and Alison Folland as Lydia) and as a bonus, includes a memorable scene of James (Joaquin Phoenix) dancing.
Those Van Zandt boys sure are talented. All of them.
What instantly grabbed my eyeballs the first time I watched this? Seeing Nicole’s yummy little pink toes and barefeet with her sexy little thong on them when she was changing! She’s my fantasy Aussie thoroughbred sex kitten 😺
Love Marie Tucci
In with some pretty ordinary movies in the catalogue there are some very good ones, and this is one of those.
What a masterpiece.
Ileana Douglas was subtly amazing, especially in the skating scene at the end.
My favorite Nicole Kidman film of all time.
Can’t the owner of this site add better descriptions if the movie includes sex scenes for example
fuck yeah
Super bonus – Music from Nailbomb!
Interesting movie.
one of my fav’s
I’m surprised to see one of my favorite movies from the 90’s on here, as it’s more of a true crime drama/character study than a typical fucked up movie, but it’s worth a watch for anyone who hasn’t seen it nonetheless. You have great actors/actresses, a great director, a score by Danny Elfman, a cameo from David Cronenberg; and a storyline that’s still relevant today. Need I say more?
