After a drunken brawl that continues into the police station, Oh Dae-su is bailed out by a friend. He stops by at a phone booth to talk to his little daughter but is abducted by unknown people and dumped in a room. For 15 years. When he finally makes it out, he is seething with revenge and questions on why he was imprisoned.
There is not much else to say other than that Oldboy is one of the greatest films a human can ever see.
Adolf Hitler elaborates that a leader shouldn’t replace a religion unless he has a better substitute.
There is no substitute for Christianity. The only alternatives presented over the past hundred years are Marxist/ Neo-Pagan religions which are unobjective in their views, doctrines and practices, allowing it to be easily molded by the Jews in media.
“Only fools and criminals would think of abolishing the existing religion”, Stay with Christ.
~ Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, Ch 10
Haven’t watched this film for a few years so watched it again. Probably the fifth time now. The acting, music score, cinematography and plot are superb. A film with surreal, comedic and violent elements, and even though I know the plot it still hits hard. Many films are called ‘masterpieces’ but few deserve that title. This film deserves it completely. A revenge film that has never been bettered imo. 5/5 angel wings.
I prefer youngboy
Predictable ending.
Great film though.
Well worth watching.
Best part? Corridor scene.
It’s funny when there’s comments hating the insanity and brutality of this movie but there’s heaps of movies here that are even more heartbreaking. What’s these violent-wannabes doing here when they can’t handle a taste of true suffering. This movie is really good btw, its not as bloody as some but its one of the few that traumatised my soul. At first I enjoyed the sex scene and then when it was reintroduced in a different perspective, I felt utterly disgusted with myself and the main character for breaking the hymen of a virgin. The story is genius. I wanna blow my brains out!
A strange old movie and only a mind with a vivid imagination could have come up with it.
shes his daughter – what a twist
Loved the movie!
Had seen the american one first. SHIT!
Epic movie! Glad it is here!
the movie is so intense from start to finish.
Holy shit.
Anyway, you can really tell that Tatsuki Fujimoto took a great deal of inspiration from this movie when writing chainsawman, and maybe even fire punch
Loved it!! Such a good ‘Effed Up’ movie. The color scheme in this is absolutely beautiful. Great introduction if you wanna get into ‘effed up’ movies.
in my country, this just came out in the movies again as a rerelease. can’t wait to see it on the big screen!
i see handsome asian guy on the cover, i click
What an amazing watch, a really artistic and brutal film . One of the good ones , you leave this film as I would say in French . Éblouie
It’s an excellent movie but i still hate it with all my heart, made me traumatized
One of the best movies ever!!
this movie was even better than i expected, any time i felt like i knew what was going to happen i was usually wrong but i’m also a fucking idiot, either way really good with a lot of fucked up twists that i would like to permanently forget, much like daesu did
Nearly twenty years old and technically never been bettered.
An absolute BEAUTIFUL film both visually and aurally. Stunningly good
Sifu \o/
Still as amazing as I remembered it.
Great flim that keeps into it. With min sik acting easily one of the best k movies there is.
FUCK THIS SHITTY SITE I HAVE GOD LAPTOP BUT THESE MOVIES KEEP FUCKING BUFFING FIX YOUR FUCKING SHIT DUMB BITCH!
…And the moral of the story is? Stay out of other people’s family business (Wretched though it may be) don’t involve yourself in the rumour mikk and keep your fucking mouth shut! The tongue is the most dangerous part of the human body and the damage it can cause is staggering!
made me camed multiple time
By far the best Korean movie for me, and one of my tops, totally a must.
After watching this movie as a human I completely disagree with the following statement: … Oldboy is one of the greatest films a human can ever see – very unbelievable statement coming from this site mod
What the- SO DID HE FORGET AT THE END?? Or was the hypnosis unsuccessful?
The ending is what made this movie worth watching. Actors and actresses did AMAZING. It shows two sides of a story and tugs at the heart strings. I’d give it an 7.5/10.
Some parts of the movie were slow and a tad bit confusing; however, I don’t discourage anyone who wants to watch this film. I would definitely recommend it.
I am lost for words i cant recommend this movie to anyone but its so well written and filmed that I cant not recommend it. The twis all i can say is i didnt expect it till the backstory was truly established and I was shook
wasnt too crazy about this one for most of the movie but the ending def made it all worth it in the end. Very clever
eh from the swedish corona virus perspective this movie offers a interesting perspective on the Swedish coronavirus situation. The the isolation is to feel and and to touch from. I as a Swedish inhabitant can really relate to how the main character is feeling. This movie portrays a post-mordernistic view on the coronavirus 19 situation in Sweden. The main character can be portrayed as the conservative party’s ahm, and the opposing political view is the anti villain. This movie proves how the underdogs of society are actually the architect of the capitalists societal view. “The post modernists are obsessed with language”
This film leaves me in so many places. It’s so brilliant.
Great movie, if you like this you might also like this Thai movie, 13 Beloved Game of Death.
“A tongue can accuse and carry bad news…the seeds of destruction will sow…but unless you’ve made no mistakes in your life…BE CAREFUL OF THE STONES YOU THROW!”. -Hank Williams Sr. Watch this most excellent film (and quite possibly most original film even by the exacting standards of Asian cinema) and you will have an even greater appreciation for the equally great lyrics quoted above! Mind your own mother fucking business and keep your yap shut!
One of the best movies ever made period.
excellent photography, and acting, but too artsy for me. lame fight scenes. couldn’t even finish the movie. I Saw the Devil also staring Choi way better, Luved that one… check it out on this most excellent site. Also Ichi the Killer, one of my new all time favorites.
OLD BOY MORE LIKE BELONGS IN THE TRASH
i gotta get shitfaced now man
I should of known better than to watch a move on effedupmovies.com
Oj’s comment wasn’t negative at all, why woud you need to replie such a negative response Juu? Breathe a little bit before you post such comment, maybe you are just a simple troll or maybe you are just a sad person, either way, I don’t envy you, relax, take a deep breath and start to feel what’s around you, spread love and not hate, in those dark times the only thing we should do is to better ourselves, understand and accept each other, if we don’t do that, we are doomed and probably deserve to be.
The only way to change this horrendous world start by the way we act around each other.
Japanese and Korean Cinema is something beyond Hollywood. It requires specific taste to understand and enjoy. Love it.
supermega said to watch this and im so glad I did!!!

A very beautiful movie, Cold boys.
Cold Boy
This is by far the most messed up twist i’ve ever seen, this is a movie none one can erase from their minds just as dae-su at the end
